As mayor, you will have the choice to enact one of four ordinances in your town at a time. No ordinance will be in effect at the start of the game, but you can pay Isabelle to change it by sitting at your mayor’s desk. It will cost 20,000 bells to do so, and will be in effect starting the next day.
Below are the ordinances and their effects.
Early Bird Ordinance
Shops will open and close three hours earlier. Villagers will also rise and go to bed earlier.
Night Owl Ordinance
Shops will open and close three hours later. Villagers will also rise and go to bed later.
Bell Boom Ordinance
Shops will sell and buy items for 20% more bells. Additionally, Re-Tail will have two premium items listed every day. You will also earn more medals from island tours on Tortimer Island.
Keep Town Beautiful Ordinance
Flowers will never wilt when this ordinance is enacted, even if they aren’t watered, and hybrids are 20% more likely to spawn. Villagers will also be seen planting flowers more often.
The town will also be cleaner – cockroaches will never appear in homes, even if the player has not visited in a while, and weeds spawn very rarely. There will also be no trash in the rivers, oceans and ponds.
